Les intentions sont louables, leur concrétisation à l’écran l’est beaucoup moins. Le film fonctionne à la manière d’un mixeur il fait tenir ensemble des influences et des tons différents, dans une agrégation type purée ou soupe sans consistance aucune. De plus, l’approche fantastique de la schizophrénie, forte de séquences d’hallucinations surchargées et visuellement hideuses, se limite à une avalanche de clichés et se voit constamment désamorcée par le second degré, signature tonale des productions médiocres d’aujourd’hui. Si bien que rien ne résiste, rien n’a d’importance tout glisse le long d’un récit balisé qui recouvre sa romance tiède d’un vernis cool et impertinent – ce que le film n’est jamais. Thor Freudenthal avait déjà saboté la suite de Percy Jackson en 2013 ; le voilà à la tête d’un teen movie de plus, sans saveur ni vision artistique du trouble mental ici investi, qu’il rend accessible à un large public. C’est là sa seule qualité. Adapté du livre de Julia Walton, "Words on Bathroom Walls" raconte l'histoire d'Adam, un adolescent souffrant de schizophrénie paranoïde, qui tente de mener une vie normale. Et comme tout adolescent, il espère réaliser ses rêves et vivre une belle histoire d'amour. Contrairement à ce que je craignais, il ne s'agit pas d'un film romantique niais dans lequel les problèmes du personnage disparaissent une fois qu'il trouve l'amour. Thor Freudenthal nous met face à la réalité de cette terrible maladie et traite vraiment bien le sujet. La maladie n'est ni minimisée ni diabolisée. On associe trop souvent la schizophrénie à de la simple folie seulement, c'est bien plus complexe que ça. À cet égard, et même s'il n'a pas vocation à être pointu sur le sujet, le film est intéressant et réaliste. On pense d'abord que le sujet va être tourné en dérision avec les voix dans sa tête qui deviennent de vrais personnages secondaires, mais c'est surtout pour montrer à quel point ça doit être dur de vivre avec toutes ces pensées envahissantes ainsi que ces hallucinations sonores et visuelles. "Words on Bathroom Walls" est un film touchant et attendrissant qui est porté par un bon duo. Bref, un bon film. Très beau film traitant du sujet difficile et sensible qu'est là "Schizophrénie".Magnifiquement interprété et adapté, entre drame, romance et humour. Des acteurs adorables et attachant, notamment "Charlie Plummer" que j'ai vraiment adoré dans ce rôle très expressif. Ce rôle lui collait tout simplement à la peau, il était fait pour le film mérite pour moi 5 belles étoiles ! car il y a très longtemps qu'un film ne m'avait autant plu ! Quel film brillant sur une maladie souvent incomprise. Un drame et une romance sincère qui conserve beaucoup de traditions mais fait passer tous les bons messages. Charlie Plummer qui joue le rôle principal d'Adam est fantastique et il incarne si bien la schizophrénie. J'ai été très impressionnée par Taylor Russell qui joue Maya qui m'a semblé familière mais qui ne ressemble à rien de ce que j'ai vu. J'ai trouvé qu'elle donnait une performance fantastique avec un front dur car venant d'un foyer en difficulté et au fur et à mesure que le film avance on voit son côté plus vulnérable. Elle a livré l'un de mes moments préférés de cette histoire vers la fin lorsqu'elle parle avec Adam et dit que la seule chose qui l'a blessée c'est qu'il ne lui a pas donné la possibilité de choisir. C'est si simple et pourtant si bien fait que ça a vraiment touché mes cordes sensibles... Un film d'une grande originalité sur la difficulté d'être un ado souffrant de schizophrénie! L'ensemble est d'une grande fraicheur et ne verse jamais dans la mièvrerie ou le misérabilisme. L'humour est omniprésent, la réalisation se montre très inventive et les jeunes interprètes sont doués et charismatiques! Tout pour offrir une ravissante comédie dramatique adolescente, douce-amère, surprenante, drôle et émouvante! J'ouvre le bal des critiques de ce schizophrénie touche beaucoup de personne dans le monde. Ici, nous suivons Adam, tourmenté, car sa maladie lui empêche de réaliser ses rêves, à savoir ouvrir son restaurant. Il doit réussir son Bac. Ajoutez à ça un environnement qu'il juge toxique et qui le pousse dans ses derniers retranchements. On ne sort pas indemne après avoir regardé ce film, si vous en comprenez toute sa vais en rassurer certains, la dénotation "amour/romantique" de ce film n'est que secondaire. Ici, on est vraiment centré sur Adam, tout vient naturellement et sans fais une mention spéciale à la musique, co-produite par The Chainsmokers. Excellent film ! les acteurs sont formidables et attachants. Film original et bien monté, le scénario est solide et l'histoire touchante.
